Saskatoon Stars captured the Esso West Regional championship with a convincing 6 to 0 win in game three. Tarynn Sutter pitched the shutout turning aside all 33 shots.
Halle Duchene fired a hat trick for the Stars, with singles added by Kolbee Ashe, Reese Dyky & Maggie Freeman. Saskatoon outshot Eastman 38 to 33.
Eastman won game one with a 2 to 1 core. Stars rallied to win game two by 5 to 4, setting up the series clincher in game three.
Next up for the Stars is a trip to Lloydminster for the Esso Cup, which runs from April 20th to 26.
Joining the Stars in Lloydminster will be Pacific region champion Edmonton Jr Oilers, from Quebec the Etoiles Laurentides-Lanaudiere, from the Atlantic region are the Eastern Stars, just the Ontario region to be decided.
